Human Torch Wields Shield

Well, it's pretty much a dead lock that Chris Evans is going to play Captain America for Marvel Studios. I, for one, am pretty happy about it. Look, we all knew that they would go for a younger guy in order to get as many movies as possible with as low a salary as possible. Some of the names on the list were perfect for Cap in terms of physicality, but they all seemed a little too....green, shall we say? Too much of an unknown quantity to anchor what is shaping up to be a pretty important franchise for Marvel.

But
Evans is a solid choice. As I've stated before, I thought he was one of the few elements of the Fantastic Four films that worked. He captured Johnny Storm pretty much perfectly. And almost all of that charm came from him. Can he handle the gravitas needed for Cap? Well, I'm way less wary of his skills than of a total unknown.

I guess that makes a cross-over impossible. I thought that Marvel was building up to big cross-overs with Iron Man and such.

I still think they are, but only with the properties they have the film rights to. I think Fox still has the film rights for the FF, and until they revert back to Marvel, they probably won't be showing up in a cross-over.
